Hi Zigfred

Are all your users attempting to reach Yahoo mail via Http, (i.e by logging into the yahoo mail webpage) or are they using a messenger software app.

If they are using a messenger app, You may need to check what their(Yahoo) instructions are for its use behind a firewall/ proxy server scenario.

The reason why you will be able to access it from the WinGate server machine is that by default accessing the net from this PC, it will not be sent via WinGate (and its firewall) but rather directly out to the web.

Regards

We are conneting through their webpage and messenger... we can login to their webpage with an account but after logging and clicking on the inbox button it always displays "page cannot be displayed" ... in our messenger it can also log in to our account but after 2-3mins it automatically disconnects.... what seems to be the problem?

zigfred:

Yahoo messenger uses the SOCKS proxy, and by default it has the autodisconnect feature enabled. In gatekeeper, go to the Services tab, open the SOCKS proxy server, and in the sessions tab uncheck the box that says "Sessions time out after.... seconds".

When you log into Yahoo via the browser, do you use the "secure" type of login? We had a similar problem when trying to open secure pages using the HTTPS or SSL protocols. It turned out to be that our Internet connection type (two-way satellite) needed some special tweakings to work with wingate. So, what kind of connection do you have? It could be a similar problem.
