Wingate 6.1.0 freezes

Postby Mike_vfr » Dec 01 05 1:16 am

We have a Windows 2003 SP1 server with Wingate 6.1.0 with two NICs, one for internal use and one with a direct connection to our firewall. Wingate works perfect with one user but when two or more users are using the internet via Wingate suddenly Wingate stops responding, all users are unable the open websites, when i try to stop the wingate engine i get a message and i am unable to start the Gatekeeper. If i shut down the Wingate task in the taskmanager i am able to start WIngate again and use it again till the moment Wingate freezes again. Please help.

Default settings?
Active directory?
Multiple DNS Lookups in Activity Window?
Active Directory User Database?
Connection method? Nat or Proxy or WGIC or all?

We use an active directory user database. The wingate server is behind a PIX firewall. I don't see multiple DNS lookups in teh activity window, the only things i see is the username and the visited websites. We have disabled DHCP service, POP3 server, SMTP server and IMAP4 server

Hi

What message do you get?

Is it any particular type of service you are accessing? E.g. WWW Proxy, etc?

How are your adapters configured in WinGate, particularly their "usage" settings.

active directory

We have done a few tests, if we use the local database we don't have any problems but when we use the remote user database (active directory) we can use the www proxy but suddenly it stops and we have the problem again.

In the Windows Services, does the "Qbik WinGate Engine" log in as a user with Domain Admin rights?

admin rights

Yes the wingate engine logs on with domain admin rights, the wingate engine has resolved all ad users and groups, so that's ok.

In www proxy log we also see this message: 12/02/05 11:51:53 192.0.1.23 msm 0000001473 Error: Caught unknown exception in CWWWSession::OnRead() - terminating
