monitoring terminals

Postby bench » Jan 27 06 12:37 pm

I have a question concerning windows for terminals. How can you monitor and restrict access to the internet when users are connecting to a terminal server?
I have a client that will be using about 15 terminals for its employees and all the applications they need to work will be available on ther tserver but they also need to access certain websites on the internet.

I have configured the proxy server with clients using workstations for their employees but never terminals.

My main question is if gatekeeper will identify each terminal as it logs in using the NT database or remote database?

I would really appreciate your help on properly setting up the proxy to identify the terminal users so I can control where they can and can't go on the internet.

thanks.

You will need WG 6 with an Enterprise licence to achieve what you want to do.

Hi

The trial version should allow you to test this functionality as well. The key is to enter the IP address of the terminal server into the "multi-user machines" setting in GateKeeper (on the users tab).

this tells WinGate that for that IP address, there may be multiple users, and to maintain credentials on a session-by-session basis, rather than once for that IP. This coupled with authentication by the clients means you can specify policies per user, even if the users are on a terminal server.
