WinGate dropping client connections

Postby KillerByte » Mar 03 06 3:12 am

Hi,

I'm using Wingate 6.1.1 as a proxy server on a network of 15 machines. I use the Java Login as a form of authentication before people can use the Internet.

Recently I've started having connection stability issues. Sometimes the Internet connection from the clients only lasts for 10 seconds before returning Socket Error pages. Eventually, the Java login screen reappears, but even after logging in again my connection only lasts very briefly before beomcing unusable.

Does anybody have any ideas what may be causing this problem?

I can provide further information if people need it.

Thanks,

Kev

Hi Kev,

Have you any plugins installed?

Is their much logging of services, try turning off all unnecessary logs, does this help?

If you stop the Wingate Engine and delete the history database as in this post http://forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?t=2834 does this help?

Report back and someone will take it further.

Sorry I've revived an old topic, but a similar problem has started to occur.

I have a number of users on the system, who are restricted by security and time, and these users seem to timeout after a period of 65 seconds inactivity. If I allow them to log in using an account which is restricted by security only then they never get kicked out.

I have checked all of the timeouts across WinGate and none of them are set to 65 seconds. I can't imagine what could be causing this. I did suspect the server itself rather than WinGate but then why would this user be able to connect without problems?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Out of curiosity - does this problem go away if you disable caching?

I will try that and let you know if it solves the problem.

Thanks.
