e-mail clients don't connect from client thru wingate to int

I am using wingate 5 and i want my clients to have their outlook 2003 to connect to gmail and use gmails pop and smtp. but outlook cannot reach the internet from the clients.I have setup the WWW proxy server and SOCKS. Still outlook cannot make anyconnection, i tried connecting the outlook on the server (bypass wingate and use the net directly) and it connected fine, so it is a wingate problem.

Note, all normal internet sites work and i can get MSN skype and other SOCKS stuff to connect so??????
