Client access

Postby lhew » Mar 29 06 4:32 am

I have loaded Gatekeeper and just plan to use it for internet monitoring and restriction of certain web sites. I have two problems.
1. When using it on a client, it is sending other application programs through wingate even though I have excluded them on the application tab. example: outlook.exe This is a problem because a few applications that require NT auth. will no longer work even though I have excluded them. (I see all this activity in the history tab)
2. I have created a ban list on the server software exactly like in the instructions, yet on the client it still allows me to that site.
All I want to do is Monitor IE and ban sites, yet it seems to be trying to do too much. Help. Thanks.

GateKeeper is used to control the server, or authenticate a user. The WinGate Internet Client (WGIC) is an optional install on the LAN clients computers.

So when you say the following you are talking about the WGIC; correct:

Depending on licensing, the WGIC can be controlled in two places:
1. GateKeeper --> Winsock Redirector Service --> Central Config.
2. WGIC --> Applications.

---> Where are you putting in the settings for Outlook.exe?
--> If in the Central Config, have you set it to contact the client list as well?

1. What instructions are you referring to?
2. What other connection method do you have available to your users? NAT / Proxy?
3. How are the websites you have banned showing up in the Activity Windows of the GateKeeper? NAT connections? WRP? Proxy?
