Can wingate do this ?

Postby tarazan » Mar 30 06 10:23 am

hello,

I want to block a user from receiving any UDP packets. However i dont want the other users to be affected. I cannot use the firewall since it blocks for all users, and in the filters criteria there is no differenciation between UDP or TCP ports. so how can i do it ?

In ENS Policies you can use the IP protocol number. (Different services extend the basic policy subset you get in System Policies)

Just be aware that DNS is UDP based; so don't be too overzealous in what you block for that user.

So as i understand, this blocks the user from accessing this UDP port number on a remote server machine, now what if I wanted to block connections from any port on the internet to a user's specific UDP port number, can i still do it with the ENS policies ?

Thanks.

Yes, you can. There are a few caveats using UDP port blocking though in this way. Is it a specific application / tool you want to block?
