Why doesnt undeliverable mail bounce back to user?

Postby deftech » May 17 06 6:44 am

What setting am I missing?

When a mail is undeliverable to a recipient, the mail goes to spool\dead, but I get no notification back to the sender.

I am getting mails that aren't going out for whatever reason, but not knowing about them until I check that folder.

Is there a way to get the bounce to come back to the original sender??

Please hep me, because hep is hepful. :D

Hi

Normally mail only ends up in dead when it is a bounce message and it is undeliverable. E.g. trying to send a bounce message to a bogus return address.

If you're getting the wrong sort of mail in there (i.e. it should be deliverable), then let me know.

We log whenever we put a mail into the dead folder, so you should be able to see in the logs why the mail is going in there.

Check out the .RCP files as well to see where the messages are supposed to be going.

Hey Adrien, I'm letting you know :). This is an old post, but it just happened again here.

There are legit emails in the HOLDING folder. Mostly emails that should bounce back to my users, but there is an actual legit email that shouldve gone to one.

When I restart Wingate, the msg files in HOLDING goto DEAD.

There are no rcp files this time, that I see anywhere.

Bug?

hmm it may be fixed

i reconfigured wingate, and the way it checks for recipients (I'm using parsing of the headers now)

maybe that should help?
