Our WinGate proxy (currently in trial) is connected to the internet through a NetScreen firewall. We're only really using WinGate for it's www proxy features so the firewall aspect isn't of interest to us.

I've successfully used on smaller setups Norton Internet security and Netgear routers with no problem. Both of which have firewalls

I use Black Ice intrusion detection on the same server as Wingate and have had no problems. WG's firewall (ENS) is active and is used to block ports, while Black Ice performs intrusion detection on the open ports.
