mix Java & WGIC in LAN

Postby redman_8888 » Jul 02 06 8:25 pm

can we set some PCs using Java Authentication and some other PCs use WGIC?

We would like to use WGIC because we wanna block the internet application like msn, yahoo messenger, bitcomet on some PCs. Some other PCs use Java Authentication to reduce our time to install WGIC for every PCs and laptops.

Yes, you can mix them as long as you do not have WGIC active on the machines that require Java authentication.

when i use Java Authentication, it will use the policies in WWW Proxy Server, am i rite?

Then which policies will be used (policies in WWW Proxy Server or Winsock Redirector Service) when i'm using WGIC?

WGIC policies unless WWW proxy has an intercept - then WWW policies would take over.

Once i add Filter (HTTP URL contains "yahoo") in WWW Proxy Server, then it cause msn messenger not able to use.

We allow users go to check yahoo mail only and they also allow to use msn messenger.

My initial plan is

1) Java Authentication -> Users can access certain website only (filter) and receiving pop mail from outlook, but they are not allow to use msn or yahoo messenger.

2) WGIC -> Users can access certain website only (filter) and we allow them to use to msn messenger. I would to make use of WGIC to control which internet applications are allowed.

3) Assumed Users-> Full Access
