Problem with Wingate

Postby Zipper » Jul 12 06 3:59 am

Hi,

I'm in the process of replacing a server, so I'm starting fresh, new server, new wingate install etc.

After installing wingate and setting up adapter, user database (active directory) and services in gatekeper, everything work great yesterday, this morning when I tried going into gatekeeper, I got the blank UI and service stop working for all my users. From there, I can stop the wingate engine, takes about 5 minutes, and restart it and everything is fine for the users until I try opening up gatekeeper again...

I'm using the latest wingate engine available in the download section.

I have try stopping the service and removing the history files to no avail, the only solution is to uninstall wingate, reboot the server and reinstall, then Gatekeeper is available one time, if I close it it's not available anymore.

Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks

HI

this is really unusual. I'm wondering if something about the new OS is messing it up.

Is it only when you log into GateKeeper? Did anything else happen in between (like a reboot etc)?

What OS is this running on, also what sort of server (i.e. is it a Dell 800 series?)

Regards

Yes it's only when I log in gatekeeper.

Server is a HP Proliant ML 330 G3 running Windows 2000 server SP4. It use to run just fine before I rebuilt this server.

Hi

I'm just wondering if its something to do with synchronising the NT user database when you log in.

Is the WinGate service running in a specified user account? Normally if you are using an AD user database, then the WinGate service itself needs to be started in an account that is a domain administrator.

The Qbik Wingate service was running as a LocalSystem, I have stop the service, put run as an account, administrator, restarted the service and I can now log back in Gatekeeper at will !

Will this affect me in any way ? Are you ok with Wingate service running as an administrator ?

Thanks

Hi Mik,

Yes, WinGate should be running in an account with Domain Administrator privileges.
