Wingate (7.3.1) - Host not found issue

Postby s.ceccotti » Jan 18 14 12:01 am

Hi,

I'm using Wingate 7.3.1 on Windows 7 x64 Professional.

I'm working to resolve this issue on my configuration with WinGate, I think I've done almost all, but unsuccessfully.
I'm on an intranet with a proxy on it ( a net class 10.208.* port 8080). I've configured WWW Proxy on WinGate and added also the upstream information on the connection tab with the correct required authentication.
My issue is that I get always an "Host Not Found" for every try.

I've added DNS Service on WinGate and change the DNS settings on the network connection of my card, but with no success.
In my LAN there are 3 DNS server with address: 10.205.73.84, 10.207.72.244, 10.208.77.84; all three correctly added to the DNS Client Settings.

What else I've to do?

Thank you for every support!

Hi

did you specify the upstream proxy by name or IP? Try by IP, which will avoid having to resolve the destination IP address for any host.

Also probably need to uncheck the option to bypass the proxy for local (in the WWW proxy Connections tab).

That just averts the problem (lack of DNS), but you probably don't need it if you're chaining proxies.

the DNS issue will be related to what servers are being used by the WinGate DNS client. Also, I'd recommend updating to WinGate 8, since it made quite a few improvements to the DNS client (e.g. ability to order servers, quite a few fixes).

Regards

Hi Adrien,

thanks for your reply.

I've made those tries:
upgrade to Wingate 8
switch to use ip address instead the DNS for the internal proxy.
Move on top, in the DNS Client list, the server on the same subnet (10.207.*)

But always get Host Not Found.
I'm astonished it didn't work, cause all looks fine!

greetings!
