Windows 7 vs. Windows Server 2008 R2

Postby bztips » Jul 26 14 9:27 am

Is there any advantage/disadvantage to running Wingate under Windows 7 vs. Server 2008 R2?
We have a small network with about 25 PCs. Currently we have the latest version of Wingate installed on a machine running Server 2008 (and that is all the machine is used for), but we literally do not use ANY of the server features. Lately that machine has started to act weird, rebooting randomly, etc. Although I don't think it has anything to do with Wingate, would Wingate run more or less reliably if we switched instead to a machine running Windows 7? A few colleagues have this nebulous notion that things would likely run less smoothly because there would be all this "network traffic" handled through Wingate that would be bouncing around in a system designed for an end user (Windows 7).

Thoughts?
Thx.
