Hi there
When you refer to Basic Authentication Windows, what exactly do you mean?
Are you using the Basic auth feature of WinGate or are you using NTLM auth through IE.
If your using Basic Auth option in WinGate,
When the user is promted in IE to login there should be no reason to log in to IE again if a new IE window is opened.
It does follow the rule however that since users are (assumed,HTTP auth) if there is no activity from the client, then WinGate will timeout the user (30 sec) and so the next time they open IE they will have be asked to log in again.
I tested and verified this on IE 5.5 before posting this.
If you are using NTLM auth option in WinGate which is much more secure, (but only available if WinGate is set to use OS userdatabase):
In IE you can set the /Security/Internet zone custom level option to "automatic logon with current username and password". Which will use the Windows credentials that the user is logged into the machine with to authenticate with WinGate.
If the current logged in user is not valid with WinGate then they will receive a login prompt IE
