Network Drive Mapping

Postby Jim Hollis » Aug 16 06 9:08 am

I'm hoping someone can assist. I want to be able to map a drive from a computer on our internal network to a share on a computer in the DMZ. I can currently map the drive on the Wingate computer but have not been successful in making it happen with any other computer. We are not using the Extended Networking feature of Wingate.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim

In my experience, the ability to map a drive requires non-translated access to ports 138 UDP and 139 TCP on the machine where the drive being mapped is.

non-translated means the traffic needs to be able to be routed between the DMZ and your internal network without address translation.

An alternative could be a VPN connection, but that seems like a bit of overkill.
