Issue with some apps

Postby KarlHess » Oct 05 16 8:41 am

First, I'm not a computer pro. Only learning by doing and reading books!
I'm running a Wingate 8.2 on an old machine with 2 network adapters Lan and Wan, Windows Vista 32bit.
The WAN is connected to a ISP Router(172.16.1.1) and the LAN(192.168.0.200) is connected to my local Network.
DHCP and DNS are working fine, the Wingate and Windows Firewall are disabled. ENS is installed and working.

But why can I not use Remotedesktop or VNC to connect to a remote computer.
With VNC i can connect every computer on the LAN side, but not WAN side.

Even if I turn on the WG Firewall and allow all port for mail and RDP or VNC---> no connection can be made.
With Firewall turned off, I can access my e-mail accounts

Any idea?
I used Sophos XG Home Edition before, not having these issues.

Greetings from Germany

Cheers
Karl

Hi

does any form of NAT work? If you for example try to ping a site via WinGate (e.g. clients are configured to use WinGAte as their default gateway), then do you see any NAT traffic in WinGate's activity screen?

Is Sophos running on the WinGate computer? We do find quite often that firewall software doesn't play nice with WinGate.

Good Afternoon and thanks for your Reply,

Sophos is disconnected.
I'm able to Access every Webpage and Mailserver while WG Firewall is disabled.

If I try to ping a Domain, I receive no Response all packets are lost.
On the activity Monitor I can not see a ping at all.
Strange is also, that I'm not able to Access my ISP Mailserver on Port 993, even the port is set to allow.
I have to disable the Firewall.

Is it possible, that my Network Card isnt compatible, because I also had to use the toggle Feature to make this Card going.

Thanks
Karl
