Any guides for newbs on setting up proxy server?

I am completely new to proxy servers. I installed Wingate because I want to be able to connect to my home network when I am away from home. But I really don't know what to do. Is there a guide or somewhere to get a walkthrough on setting up WinGate?

You'll find heaps of information in our helpfile, hit F1 anywhere inside the WinGate console to open it.

What do you want to do when you connect to your home network when you're away? Are you looking to be able to access files on your network machines, or do you want to connect through your own proxy server to the internet? What are you hoping to use WinGate for?
