Clarifying user licence

May 08 18 7:52 pm

Hi, I am looking for a simple proxy server on a PC which connected to a device, which needs to access the internet via the PC. All it needs is a single concurrent IP connection. If I have more than 50 PCs and each requires a copy Wingate software, do I need to purchase a licence for each PC or the free licence?

Kind regards,

Hi

you install WinGate only on the computer that acts as the access to the Internet for the network (the proxy server), not on each client computer.

Licensing is based on how many clients connect concurrently to the proxy. Depending on the sort of network access the clients do, 10 users may or may not be enough for 50 client computers (typically it would not be enough and you'd need to purchase a license).

You could always test the proxy and see how many connected clients you get, this is shown in the dashboard by default.
