I'm trying to set up a simple Socks5 proxy server on my PC

Postby ProxyNoob » Aug 17 18 4:11 am

I'm trying to set up a simple Socks5 proxy server on my PC, but so far it isn't working.

I have installed WinGate and have logged in under the default Administrator profile.

I have activated the SOCKS Service and entered a different port number from 1080 (I chose 5555 and then something else).

But I tried accessing the server from an outside computer at my ip and on that port, but I couldn't connect.

I have messed around with the Permissions and Policies to see if anything was blocking access, but I couldn't find anything.

Any ideas about how to get a Socks5 Server working on my PC?

Hi

if you want to access a service in WinGate remotely you will probably need to adjust the binding policies on the SOCKS service. By default it only makes itself available on internal interfaces.

If you're behind a NAT device you will probably also need to forward the port you're using to the proxy.
