How do I use UDP Mapping Service correctly?

Postby Primordiarch » Jun 01 22 4:56 pm

I'm trying to use an Azure VM as a proxy. So far I've successfully connected to it with HTTP 80 and SOCKS5 1080 but no success trying to tunnel UDP through it. How do I do it?

Thank you.

Hi

The UDP mapping should work basically the same as a TCP mapping, except there's no connection handshake like there is with TCP.

Do you have the firewall open on the Azure VM for the UDP port that the mapping proxy is accepting traffic on?

I'm sorry I'm not that expert. May I ask with this picture instead?

Will that setup allows UDP?

I was trying to use Wingate proxy to work with UDP traffics in torrents.

Thank you.

OK, so you want to use UDP relay feature in SOCKS5.

This feature was added to the SOCKS protocol in version 5, and it has a few design flaws (it requires a packet overhead, so reduces the size of UDP packets you can send via SOCKS5).

Consequently it's not that well supported by client applications.

But WinGate SOCKS5 server does support UDP relay.

What client software are you using?
