New to Wingate

Postby faried » Oct 14 06 9:10 pm

Hi...

I am new to wingate as usually I use just a simple internet connection sharing.
I am using a trial verion of Wingate 5 that a friend of mine offered me.

Ok, still many things I want to learn more about wingate. POP3, SMTP, FIREWALL and other setting as well.
But now please just explain me ....

1. How to change the Activities Description, I mean not just IP address...I want to see the web addresses as well in History List.
2. Is there any possibility for wingate 5 to see bandwith usage from each user...? or should I get another plug in. If that so, what kind of plug in is that.

I guess that's all for now.
Thanks

You probably want to use 6.1.4; version 5 is quite old now. If you decide to purchase WinGate after the trial, there is a discount currently available from the downloads page. WinGate licenses will also get a free year of upgrade protection and you will also always be able to use the features you bought in future releases of the product line. http://www.wingate.com/download.php

For the web page domain name to be visible, turn on intercepts for port 80 in the WWW Proxy Service --> Sessions.

Bandwidth usage can be seen in the user properties accounting tab, or with a third party reporting tool analysing the log files, or by double clicking one of your adapters in the networks tab and selected the performance tab.

I am looking forward to it. Thanks

But currently I only have the v.5.5 and haven't downlod the v.6 yet.
Meanwhile, I really appreciated if you can assist me with my previous question, so that me and my manager might satisfied with it, then we shall continue to the next step that you offered me.

thanks

1. The upgrade will not take long, and there is no point trialing 5 if you are a first time user because you will not be able to purchase a license for it.

2. The answers to your questions are in my post above.
