Socker error from WWW proxy server

Postby jingboy » Oct 31 06 9:42 am

Hi,
I am using wingate to bind 2 dial up connections to get higher speed. I normally access internet via HTTP proxy. I configured wingate www proxy server to use http proxy. And then i configured my browser to use wingate http proxy (localhost:80). But i when i try to browse, i encounter a socket error 'SSLTunnelling connect to www.comcentral.com:80 failed - bad response from HTTP server'. Otherwise my browser works perfect when i configure it to use my ISP http server(it supports SSL too). WHat am i doing wrong? Pls help

EDIT
I think I ve figured out where the problem lies but couldnt find any solution. My dns resolver log is nothing but a heap of errors which are in this format
'10/30/06 15:21:51 Error: bounce request [0122e61c]<1> to try 3 (no specific and cannot select)
10/30/06 15:21:58 Request: request [0122dcb8] A lookup "www.golfsearch.com."

So i think wingate is not being able to use my DNS server. I tried manually entering my DNS server ip at the 'dns/wins resolver' but i still get the same error log. Now can anyone think of any possible solution to this??

Hi

"No specific and cannot select" means that WinGate doesn't have any DNS servers that it considers to be working.

Have you manually specified a DNS server to use in the DNS resolver configuration?

Thanks for the help. Yes I had specified the DNS address manually at that time. Anyway, I tried changing my proxy type from HTTP to cascaded proxy and IT WORKS !!
