Getting Problem while using Wingate Email Feature

Postby Tarun Arora » Nov 15 06 5:51 pm

Hi,

We are using wingate 6.1.4. We are using your Email options and we are facing a problem while recieving a mails we are getting one mail more than once and i think it depends on the number of recpient in one mail either in (To or in CC).
Let me tell you the clear picture that how we are using our mails.
Firstly we have taken a web space for mails from the ISP. For reciving the mails we have put our email users in collection which extract the mails from web server.
For delivery we are using gateway for undelivermail or otherwise send the mails directly.
Now suppose I am using our user email address like abc@xyz.com and so on. where abc is the user name and suppose xyz.com is email domain.

If suppose someone mail to one of my user and cc to my rest of the 4 users then that mail will reach to all my five users in there local mail box is five. Same thing happened if someone send one mail to my 5 users and mentioned there name in (To) but not in (cc) again the same mail will send 5 times. But if the person send one mail to only one user and not to mentione any one in cc then only one mail come to my user.

Now please guide me which settings I have to see to overcome this problem it is really creating a lot of problem for me.

And for your knowledge if I see that mail in our web mail serve where we have taken the space from our ISP there I find only one mail. From there once the mails collect through wingate Email it automatically increase as per the number of recipient of my domain.

I have also enabled send one copy in sent box in delivery option in Wingate Email settings.

Regards,
Tarun

Hi Tarun

I've made some changes to POP3 collection which addresses this problem. The problem is that the original email is sent to several users on your domain, this normally means that there are multiple copies of the message in your catch-all account at your ISP. When WinGate downloads these, it parses out all the addresses. It recognises each address for each copy, so you'll find you get multiple copies delivered to each.

If you look at the headers of these mails, you'll find they have different IDs mentioned in their received tags inserted by your ISP when it delivered the copies into your catch-all mailbox.

Anyway the solution is to use our next version, which allows you to specify which header fields in an email to use when deciding where to deliver a mail. By avoiding using the To: and CC: fields, you then don't end up with multiple recognised recipients.

We're in final testing of this version at the moment and expect it out with the next week. If you'd like to test this feature, let me know.
