Logfiles question

Postby ekkas2 » Dec 18 06 10:00 pm

If I parse my all log files, extracting traffic, will I have duplicates?
E.g. if a client browse a webpage, will there be only one place where the traffic is logged, or will there be more than one? (Apart from DNS & proxy or NAT )

I.o.w if I add up all traffic logs in all log files for a client, will that be an accurate reflection of the client's usage or will it be more than what he/she was actually using?

--> No

--> If you have the Transparent proxy on for port 80 in the WWW proxy Service then it will be logged in there.
-->If you have the LAN Clients Internet Explorer set to use WinGate's WWW Proxy Server then it will also be logged in the WWW Proxy log file.

--> You can also look at the total data usage in the following location:
GateKeeper --> Users tab (far bottom left) --> <User> --> Accounting tab.
--> Yes, it is close to accurate.
