In MSN 6.0 video works, but in MSN 6.1 stop working

Postby jesusv » Dec 11 03 8:53 am

In MSN Messenger 6.0 we have:
Tools / Options / Connection:

(x) Proxy server is used

Type: SOCKS Version 5
Server: 192.168.0.3 (Wingate server)
Port: 1080

everything works fine, chat, file sending, even the webcam.

I used the same setup in MSN Messenger 6.1
everything works fine, but the webcam it just doesn't work.

anybody who knows how to setup Wingate and MSN 6.1 correctly to make webcam (video) function works.

Thank you, best regards.

When you try and use the Webcam do you see it create a Socks session in the activity pane of Gatekeeper? Have you tried using the WGIC? We know of a NAT problem with the current version and two way video with NetMeeting (which i believe uses the same mechanisms as MSN), where only one end of the conversation will get video (from memory the meeting hoster can see the joining client, but not the other way round). We are working on a solution to this at the moment. However this does not explain why the socks proxy doesn't work, thus it would be interesting to know what shows up in Gatekeeper when you are trying to make these connections.

Regards
