Migration from w98(SE) to w2000 and Wingate v5.0.8 to 5.2.2

Postby Graham » Dec 12 03 1:33 am

I want to upgrade from a machine running w98(se) to another running w2000 and go from 5.0.8 to 5.2.2.
Can I just set up the new machine offline, then unplug the old one, plug in the new one and expect everything to work ?
or, is there a path to take.
Will I have to purchase a new licence for 5.2.2 ?

Graham.

Hi Graham

Just to clarify

You want to setup a machine offline with Win2000 and WinGate 5.2.2
and configure it the same as the current Win98se WinGate machine thats online currently?

As long as all the settings are the same and there are no IP addressing issues (so you use the same IP addresses as the Win98se Machine when you take it offline ) then there should be no reason it should not work.

Unfortunately exporting the WinGate registry to duplicate the WinGate settings on the new Win2000 machine will not work in this scenario due to operating system differences.

And YES your full WinGate 5.0.8 licence will work fine on WinGate 5.2.2

Hope this helps
