Windows has found... do you want to restore originals.

Postby DBeard » Dec 16 03 10:53 am

We should all know about Windows2K and beyond, feature that recognize critical files have changed and tries to restore them from the installation CD. This feature is called WFP (Windows File Protection)

This is the case win WGIC is installed and the Winsock DLLs are altered on some 2K machines.

The machine reports to the user that some files have changed and asks them if they want to restore these files from the Win2K installation CD.
They CAN click Cancel and Yes (to confirm the cancel).

Do you know of anyway to avoid this message?

Thanks

I'll answer my question here in case someone else is interested.

This behavior can be altered with registry settings.
Since I'm importing registry settings upon installation of WGIC anyway, then I will simply add the setting to the import that will disable WFP.

For more info search MSKB for artible 222473
