Usable as a publicly accessible proxy?

I have a computer sitting behind a DSL router with NAT enabled. Is it possible to connect to wingate on this computer from over the internet and use it as a proxy?

It should look like: remote pc -> internet -> dsl router -> wingate pc -> dsl router -> internet -> destination

Does the wingate machine need an external IP for this to work? I've attempted setting up port forwarding on the router with no success so far.

edit: nevermind. looks like i had it working all along, just couldn't access it to test from inside the network.
