Hi

Have you tried upgrading to the latest version of WinGate 5.2.2
There have been numerous fixes made to the memory handling and proxy services that may sort your problem.

WIngate v5.2.2 - ENS - NAT - Memory HOG!

Postby dataking » Dec 20 03 6:28 am

hey there....i got the exact same problem....im running windows 2000 with all the latest servericepacks and patches....wingate has been behaving like this ever since 5.0.6, whenever the ENS plugin is activated(firewall, router or NAT) the memory usage by the Wingate.EXE process jumps like crazy and occupies all available, first swap space, closely followed by physical RAM, if the plugin is not deactivated in time, or wingate engine not shut down, the system grounds to an almost halt, where even the mouse has difficulty moving, let alone type anything to kill the process!!!....

wonder why this happens...and also wonder why noone bothered writing back to my previous message abou the same issue titled the same as the reply to this thread!!...

enjoy people!...

Are you running any data scanning plugins ? (Not ENS) There were some problems with earlier versions of them that could consume resources in a short space of time.

Also, are you running 5.2.2, the latest build ?

running latest wingate build

Postby dataking » Dec 21 03 8:43 am

Greetings,

yes i am running the latest build of wingate, v5.2.2 build 892.

and no i am not using any data scanning plugins, but i did install GateKeeper back in v5.0.6 just to test it, and then removed, it. but since i been backing up and reusing the registry backups since then, there might be some traces of it left in theregistry refrences....

currently i have no data scnaning plugins...upoon activation of the ENS NAT service or any other ENS service, winagate Memory usage goes overboard in a very short span of time.....

any help would be greatly appriciated.

regards,

Shayan
