MSN messenger & Windows Media Player causes Wingate cras

Postby rtchong » Jan 12 04 4:33 am

I don't know if the crash of the Wingate Server using MSN Messenger or Windows Media Player are interrelated.

Whenever MSN Messenger is started from a client Wingate on the server, Win2K Server, crashes and causes a BSOD. This also happens when I try to listen to a sound track from towerrecords.com with WMP. With the latter I noted the following:

Stop 0xd1 (0xbe, 0x2, 0x1, 0xfc016bb5) driver irql not less or equal.

My setup consists of win2k server and winxp clients; non-ras adsl through Aztech isdn usb/ethernet combo (DSL 355E UR-2). Wingate is configured for ENS.

Are you still running 5.0.10 ? (From your other posts, regarding SMTP and downgrading to 5.0.10)

Secondly, did the BSOD indicate which driver was involved ? (Was it QbikHK2K.sys ?)

Yes, I do untill I'm sure I can install 5.2.2 without any problems.

Alas, no indication which driver was involved. The adsl modem is used through a separate ethernet card. Previously I used the usb-port but that crashed with every download of files. Now I can download without a hitch with exception of playing soundfiles on the internet.

bump to top. I really would like to find an answer to my questions.

Should I uninstall 5.0.10 first before installing 5.2.2?

How do I configure the clients to maximize the benefits and protection of Wingate when browsing, sending and receiving mail??
