Big problem with wingate 4.01 on a w2k server with sp4

Postby jaydee » Oct 03 03 6:19 am

HI,

We have wingate 4.01 on a win2k server wich all worked fine until last week. This is the situation:

We have a w2k server in our local LAN wich is connected to a gigabit switch using just one network card (compaq N77xx gigabit) On this machine we have wingate. The wingate machine forwards its requests (through a cisco router) to a linux firewall wich is connected with our ISP (dual network card)

This all worked fine until last week. The wingate just freezes and client connections cant get through. The internet connection is still up because when I use a browser from the wingate machine it connects just fine (in this way i dont use wingate but connect directly through the linux firewall). When i look in the www log files of wingate i see something like:
Caught exception on Csession::LogEvent

The only solution is to reboot the server or to stop & start the wingate services. The clients connect through java authentication. This is really getting annoying because it worked fine for bout 1 year. I even tried setting up a new win2k server and install wingate fresh. I also upgraded to 4.5.2 but same problem there.

Any Ideas ????

Help me out please

Regards Jaydee

Jaydee,

If no changes have been made, a good place to start is to:

1. Stop the WinGate service.

2. Delete the History.dbf and History.cdx file

3. Start the WinGate service.

5.0.7 cleaned up a lot of problems and should work with you 4.x licence.

Ok I could try 5.0.7 butttttttttttttttttt

I still like to know how the problems started
the network situation is like this:

[client] w2k login AD ---------------------------------------------
| dns |
| |
[wingate] w2k domain member ----------------------[AD dns server]
| dns |
| |
[linux firewall] ----------------------------------------------------|
| dns request
|
[ ISP ]
