ftp, www through wingate. default gateway elsewhere.

Postby wg_user » Jan 29 04 10:16 pm

Wingate 5.22 behind a NAT firewall. Wingate has default gateway to firewall.

IE6 on w2k. Internal LAN using http, ftp through wingate www proxy.

The firewall only permits wingate to go out on ftp, www.

For other purposes, i want to have default gateway directly to firewall for some computers. I still want them to use http, ftp through wingate.
Is this possible ?
When i tried this, ftp wont work anymore through www proxy, www still works. I leave the proxy settings unchanged in IE6.

If i open ftp on the client in the firewall it works. I don't want to do that.
What seems to happen is that IE6 ignores the proxy settings and goes directly through the gateway. Is this normal ?

I am stuck here.
