Licensing Question

Postby rbaal » Feb 02 04 4:07 pm

Suppose I have 3 sites, 1 with 6 users 2 with 12 users.

All need VPN the 6 user site and one of the 12 user sites also needs proxys etc.

Do I need
1 x 6 User VPN License
2 x 12 User VPN Licenses
1 x 6 User WinGate
1 x 12 User WinGate

or
1 x 6 User Wingate
1 x 12 User Wingate
1 x 12 User VPN

or some other combination

Also can you mix licenses on one site
i.e. if the 12 user site only 4 users will be allowed to surf but all need
VPN could I install 1 x 6 Wingate and 1 x 12 VPN.

Thanks

OK we'll take this one step at a time:-)

If you have the 3 sites you decribe, then yes you'll need 2 seperate WinGate licences. 1x 6 user, and 1x 12 user, so that each site can utilise WinGate functionality such as NAT and proxies etc.

If you then wish all 3 sites to have access to theWinGate VPN, then you'll need a a seperate licence for each site, thus 1x 6 user, and 2x 12 user VPN licences.

But as you mention at the bottom if only 6 of your users at one of you 12 user sites are going to use NAT / proxies etc, then you could indeed just have a 6 user WinGate licence and a 12 user VPN licence at that site.

Regards
