Connections Issues

Postby ianjpage » Apr 01 04 1:20 am

Right i have got the following setup and am having some issues with it:-

Internal Network with various NT/W2K servers - files & Domino servers.
\/
WinGate Server - running as Proxy, VPN Host and Firewall (all traffic goes through this machine)
\/
Internet via leased line

The wingate server is running NT Server.

The issue we have is a WinXP laptop with the latest VPN client software, using broadband at home can connect OK to the VPN and can connect to our main internal mail server, but he keeps continually getting disconnected from the server.

Does the internal server need to have a RIP Client or something installed on it or not as the laptop is connecting to the domino side of it NOT the OS/File shares.

Also any ideas WHY it keeps dropping him from seeing anything on the internal network, then 2 - 3 seconds later working fine again!

Also when he is connected to the server, the speed he is getting is VERY slow - using the traffic monitor it seems to be doing only about 2k transfer rate.,....

Any help please ???????

Might be an MTU problem. Do a search. somebody had a good fix if the XP DSL client is using ppoe you need to fix the client. Don't install RIP on client or server. That'll make things worse.
