Can still not browse!!

Mar 13 04 4:40 pm

Dear All,

Pascal has already reviewed my log files, and they are ok - but I can still not browse.

Here a summary of my situation:

Windows 2000 = Wingate Server
IP address of the ethernet adapter = 192.168.0.1
Default Gateway = -

Windows XP = Wingate Client (joiner)
Uses automatically IP addresses and DNS addresses.

- Wingate VPN has been installed with the default configurations on both computers.

- There is no router between us. Usually both computers are connected into a peer-to-peer network, but I plugged off the network cable.

- They are acting as stand-alone computer.
- Windows 2000 goes via DSL into the internet.
- Windows XP goes via Modem into the internet.

- Zonealarm has been switched off on both computers.
- The Microsoft inbuild firewall on Windows XP is switched off.

I can establish a connection, Windows XP can see the symbol for the computer of Windows 2000, but it is not possible to browse!

I purchased Wingate VPN after it worked with two Windows 2000 computers, but it seems to be impossible between WinXP (client) and Win2000 (server). I spent the whole night (in Germany it's already 4:36 A.M) with trying and trying..... and I don't have any clue, where to look.

My knowlege about setting up a VPN connection is really poor, so I need very easy to understand answers! And I need a solution!!!

Best regards
Anila

I have had 3 people connect to my VPN with 2K pro and vice versa. I am using XP Pro, so I dont think that is it. Are the tunnells both Active, are the ip's ok or in conflict, are the computers showing as available? if the answer to all theses is yes then check theses threads out

Dear Jono,

thank you for your response. I already found your link earlier and tested this:

ping 192.168.1.1 -l 1412
(1500 - 28 (ICMP and IP header) - 60 (VPN header) = 1412)

If the ping times out or errors badly then go to this link and download DR TCP (its free and only 50k)

It works on both computers (I made the ping to my own IP address, that's correct, or?)

I would like to test it with your PC. Now I am already in vaccation preparation, this is my last day here - but next week we want to work with the VPN connection. So if possible I will try to contact you via email later on.

Best regards,
Anila

P.S.: Do you have an ICQ number?
