We have had reports of the registry setting for ICS (internet connection sharing) being removed when it has been unticked in the GUI. Please see:

for instructions on how ot manually remove ICS

I too am having the same trouble installing Wingate VPN under Win XP SP2 2126.

That microsot artical refers to Windows 98 not Windows XP therefore it doesn't really apply.

Is there another way around this probled as this product sounds just like what i'm looking for but if I can even install it then it is usless.

Try this - it's a recommendation from Kevin ...

"Right click on My Computer, select Manage, expand Services and Applications, select Services, right click on ICF / ICS select properties, set start up type to Disabled. "

Thanks Pascal, but unfortunatly there is no ICF / ICS Service listed at all.

Back at work now, after the weekend, so I had a chance to look at one of our QA machines with SP2 on it. It's currently running WinGate. There are no services, as you suggested (Except they seem to have added "Security Center" and removed individual controls for them with the BETA Service pack.

However, when you go into the Security Center, FireWall is turned OFF there. Then WinGate installs fine. I don't believe ICS is turned on on any of the adapters either. The fixes listed were with versions of XP prior to the BETA SP2.
