VPN connection, creating def gateway to chan traffic to VPN

May 19 04 11:41 am

I installed WinGate VPN 1.2.3

I successfully connect to the VPN server and can see the servers on the server side network. However, I could not create a default route on the client side to channel all outgoing internet traffic through VPN connection.

server side is : Windows XP pro. behind a NAT firewall, it is a Cable internet connection with a router. the VPN server had DHCP address. however I made it a static IP address. ports for the VPN was opened (113, 809)

client side: windows 2K pro. behind NAT firewall. NIC is confiured with DHCP.

I would like all traffic to go through the VPN connection when I establish the connection. Currently only the traffic that is destined to the subnet that is destined to the VPN server side is sent through the VPN and rest is sent to the internet without being encrypted.

I can send logfiles etc if needed. please let me know the required information.

VPN server side :
published routes (behind NAT/translated)
192.168.0.0/255.255.0.0
192.168.0.2/255.255.255.255

VPN Client side:
published routes (behind NAT/translated)
172.16.35.140/255.255.255.255

thanks

Hi

WinGate VPN does not currently support tunneling all traffic (i.e. using the default gateway across the VPN). We are working on this for a future release.

If you are really only interested in tunnelling web traffic through the VPN, you can still connect to a WWW Proxy across the VPN if that helps.
