VPN encryption availablility?

I posted another topic wondering if any encryption was available in Wingate and someone suggested using Wingate VPN because it did have encryption. My question is do all versions of Wingate VPN have some form of encryption? My goal is to set up a proxy server to surf the internet and to make sure that the data is encrypted from my portable laptop to where I'm hosting the Wingate/Wingate VPN server. The VPN version I have is 1.0.1 so will that do the basic encryption job that I need?

All versions of Wingate VPN encrypt their traffic (unless "Unencrypted" option is specifically set).
