VPN connection to "Microsoft VPN"

Nov 20 04 1:11 am

Hi,

... how could I connect a PC running Wingate-Server to a "Microsoft" VPN (PPTP on Port 1723, MS-CHAP etc.)?

I know, that it will not work using the Wingate-VPN as a client. What other solution(s) can be recommended?

Thanks and Regards
Chris

You are right saying that Wingate VPN is not interconnectibale with Microsoft VPN - they are built on different principals. However,Wingate NAT does support PPTP and ESP protocols so you can connect a client behind Wingate firewall to a Microsoft VPN server.

Hi genie,
yes, of course ... I have done this setup quite often.

But in this special case I would be looking for a solution to the following problem:
* The Wingate-Server is connected to the Internet (fixed IP).
* Application X is running on the server, it is accessed by clients from the "normal" Internet (no VPN)
* Application X does some processing and must then connect to application Y, which runs on a different system (not in the LAN!), which is only accessible via (MS-)VPN (over the Internet).

It is possible to start a MS-VPN-connection from the server to the target system (through Wingate), but after establishing this connection, the Server is no longer reachable from the LAN.
(Maybe the solution is just "tweaking" the MS-VPN???)

Regards
