Jul 19 05 3:00 pm

I am trying to get this working. I installed wingate vpn on win 2000 sp4 two nics one on cable modem the other local lan, dhcp works added dns entries to wingate to make sure they were there. I get no dns resolution from client machine ( xp pro). Ping www.yahoo.com does not resolve to ip address nor can I browse internet of course. Pinging wingate machine works file sharing works. I want to use this machine as a gateway to the internet and a vpn server. Did not try the vpn part yet. Can you help me, i'm stuck.

Well, the first bit of advise would be to check that Gatekeeper shows proper adapters usage - internal vs external.

I di check hte internal has static address 192.168.50.1 and external is dynamic cable modem.

Hi,

Did you install WinGate or the WinGate VPN only software? Did you install the Extended Networking driver when you installed WinGate?

If you installed WinGate, do you see the client activity in the activity screen in GateKeeper when you try to ping?

I installed wingate VPNOnly2.0.4.1025-USE.EXE , it did mention the extended network driver and it is installed and active. Are you telling me that I also need wingate for what I want to do?

If you require to use the Win 2000 server as a VPN host, as well as a way to provide "Internet Connection Sharing" with the clients on your LAN, you are required to use WinGate. WingateVPN Only does not provide internet connection sharing.

WinGate, which can be trialed for 30 days, is available from here: http://www334.pair.com/qbiknz/downloads ... 25-USE.EXE
