Accessing Share on Wingate host is not working

Jan 14 04 5:30 pm

Hi,

I have setup a wingate vpn connection as follows:

VPN Host - W2k sitting behind ADSL Modem/Router - IP 10.0.0.6
VPN Client - XP sitting behind Netgear router & ADSL modem - IP 192.168.0.6

VPN Connects and I can ping the VPN Host from the VPN Client using the IP Addres only. It wont ping using the name.

If I try to access the share folder on the VPN Host:
\\10.0.0.6\data

I recieve the windows username & authentication window. If I use the correct username and password, it wont let me in.

Could you help with this please.

Hi there

Are you trying a WinGate username and password or a Windows username/password?.

When attempting to access resources (shared folders, drives etc) on a remote machine, security ( access control/permissions etc) is handled by MS networking as in a normal LAN scenario.

To access a share, you will need to log on with account details of a local user account on that machine, who of course has permissions to access this share.

Hope this helps
