Problem with VPN

Postby TomAUS » Nov 16 04 2:42 pm

Hi guys

Having quite a big problem here, we have got a Wingate Ent 12 user license and 5 single VPN lics.

The 5 single lics are on computers in our 'satellite' office which share the same external IP's but different internal (obviously). The reason for single user lics over a 6 user server lic is that the computers in the sat office are laptops and people connect from home often.

The problem is when we connect at work to the server not everything works. Sometimes the VPN will work fine, other times all we can do is Ping the server. This seems to be completely random but it obviously cannot be. Is the problem because we are connecting from the same external ip? but if this is the case why can we still ping at all times.

Note: Atleast one pc can usually access the services running on the server

Wingate firewall and XP SP2 firewall have been turned off and the SP2 firewall service has also been disabled

Thanks

Tom

That sounds like a classical MTU problem. Have a look at the posts in http://forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?t=3099 which might help provide some guidance.

Our VPN Setup guide under our WhitePapers also shows you how to test (Using ping) to test if it is an MTU problem.
