Lost internet connectivity after install

Me and my friend are trying to set up vpn access to each other. we both installed Wingate VPN 2.03 on our XP pc. Every thing works correctly on my machine. On his machine, he looses all kind of connectivity to the internet or lan after the install. Even if he shuts down the wingate Engine, he still can't access the network. We're not even trying to connect vpn yet.
He has a single NIC that connects to a router wich connect to a Cable modem.
After the install, the routing table looks exactly the same as before the install. We made sure no Firewall was running on his computer (XP or 3rd party, and even disabled Wingate Firewall).
The only way to restore its connectivity, is to uninstall the wingate software.
I have looked on the Forum several times but couldn't find anything similar.

Ensure that his adapter is properly marked as "Internal". From the sound of it - it is not - it is being detected as external. Refer to :http://forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?t=2926 for more information.

If that does not resolve it - post back here and Genie will send you an updated driver.
