Local Network unreachable

Postby Spooky » Aug 09 05 11:43 pm

Hy there,

I have some problems with my local network. I've installed Wingate VPN as Client on 1 Computer in my Company. I've installed Wingate VPN as Server on 1 Computer in a shop which is accessible through internet. I can connect from my client (local) to my shop and I also can transfer files from Server (Shop) to client. So this works.

Now my problem is that my client computer where I've opened some shared folders aren't accessible from the other local computers. Ping is no problem but the shares won't work. I only need a vpn to have the possibilty to transfer files to the client. When I stop Wingate my client pc is't accessible anymore to my local machines. Also ping doesn't work anymore. What have I made wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Spooky,

Are you seeing any hits on the firewall in GateKeeper? If you are then you should check your network tab and make sure your adapter is set to internal, this would stop it from being firewalled.

Hy Matt,

but it's strange when Wingate is running I can ping the pc where the client is installed. But I can't access the shares on the client pc from other pc in the local network. I get permission denied. But VPN works between client and server and also file transfers is no problem.

So my only problems:
1. Client PC: Wingate Running: Ping works, but shares not accessible on client pc from other local pc's.
2. Client PC: Wingate stopped: It's not possible to ping the client pc and it's not reachable (shares) in local lan

So when Wingate stops is there still running a service or something like that which still controls the windows ip settings? Because normally it should working like before wingate setup?!

After uninstall the shares are accessible. I want to use Wingate but I need to solve that problem.

Thanks for your help

PS: I've disabled wingate vpn firewall and windows xp firewall. there is no other firewall soft installed, so firewall should be no problem I think?!

And how are your adapters set on the network tab? Do you have an internal and an external adapter and are they marked correctly?

What OS are the clients running?

The adapter has been set internal and pc where the client is installed on is Windows XP Pro and server which is reachable through internet is windows 2000.

For the moment Wingate VPN runs in trial mode (3rd day). I wanted to test Wingate VPN first. Maybe that's the problem?!
