site-to-site (Wingate-to-Smothwall) vpn

Postby ciaran » Mar 04 04 5:43 am

Can anyone confirm or deny the possibility of connecting two sites together via VPN with one site using Wingate and the other using the Smoothwall Linux firewall solution?
Any help would be gratefully received.

Best regards,
Ciaran.

Wingate VPN requires 2 Wingate machines to be connected (due to the fact that Wingate uses its own proprietary VPN protocol). However, whatever NAT./firewall solutions you use between this two machines should not be of great concern for Wingate VPN channel - therefore, if you have two VPN machines, one of which is behind Smoothwall Linux, it should work properly.

Thanks very much for the quick reply. I'll proceed accordingly. Is it true that the Wingate Pro product is also capable/licensed for site-to-site vpn?
