Wingate VPN and NIS 2004

Postby pbirkhoff » Feb 20 04 12:26 am

VPN Works only when I disable Norton Internet Security 2004 on the Server side.
When the NIS is active I have a connection but are not allowed to explore the server

Do I need to enter any additional data into NIS?

You probably will. I'm not aware of how Nortons works, but i assume you will ahve to tell it to allow the WinGate enging total access, and also maybe allow activity on the Netbios ports (137 - 139).

Thanks Neil for your remarks, but it did not help.
I opend the ports you mentioned bt no change.
I checked the programms from Wingate to see if they were not mentioned in the list of NIS, but they are there and they have server access. So I am still in the dark here

OK, I solved the problem with NIS2004, it was like you said a setting related to the netbios.

Now I do have connection to my server, but I cannot browse, the PC sign is blue, but no reaction when I want to open or explore????

I use on the Server site a router (SpeedTouch 510) with port 809 opend on both tcp/udp Also identifyed that server is known in the router the act as the server.

My remote is a laptop via dial-in to the internet and than to my PC

What do I do Wrong?

I noticed that on the Extended networking the "enable Extended network Driver" is grayed out?!

Do pings, etc. succeed ? It sounds as if the should, but just to make sure.
