Active Directory Server and no access to shares

Mar 07 04 11:23 am

Following problem: Using Wingate VPN only. Client side WinXPSP1. Host is Win2003Server. WinXP machine is not member of the connected domain. Connecting via VPN o.k. Shares are visible. Using the username foo to connect and foo is allowed to access all shares within the connected domain. But in the moment I try to connect via \\192.168.X.X\foodir (foodir is visible as share) connection seems to run into timeout (translated from german something like: "connection is no more available"). When I try to connect via explorer "map network drive" with the option "use different user name", then using the username foo and its domain password , the \\servername\foodir is visible and mapped. In the moment I want to use it, connection runs again into timeout. Does someone has an idea what happens here??? Thanks for help. Manfred

Got the following message from Jono.
I may be wrong but this sounds similar to a problem I was having when setting up the wingate VPN. I cured it by lowering the mtu to 1350 you can see the threads here
