When I attempt to install WingateVPN software (which I just downloaded) to my Windows XP machine, it asks me to restart the machine at the end of the install. At that point, the machine cycles, and after I get the XP Desktop I get a fatal error in Windows and the machine again cycles. This happened several times, and the only way I was able to resolve it was to start Windows in SAFE mode and do an uninstall of WingateVPN.
I would like to use the program, but at this point it sure looks like there is a compatibility issue. Any ideas on how to resolve?

Normally if there are any, compatibility issues exist between the following types of networking components.
1. Other firewall products
2. Other products that may use intermediate network drivers (such as other VPN products).
In some cases, with earlier versions of WinGate, there were issues with network card drivers from RealTek.
Which version of WinGate are you running? Also what networking software/hardware do you have installed (you should be able to see under your network properties).

Thanks for your reply. I am not running Wingate at all. I am only trying to run Wingate VPN. The Wingate VPN file that I downloaded is VPNOnly1.2.3.901-USE.
As far as other network software, it is only XP components. Network properties shows a Network Bridge, a LAN connection (currently disconnected) which is a Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection, and a wireless connection which is a 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter (no brand indicated, but it came already installed under the covers on my IBM laptop).

I've got good news and I' ve got bad news.
If I disable the network bridge, then the VPNOnly software loads cleanly. So it sure appears the problem is some kind of conflict between the Network Bridge and the VPNOnly software.
The bad news is that I need the Nework Bridge to be enabled.
