What traffic are encrypted?

Postby Nicko » May 17 04 12:39 am

If I have two clients connected to a VPN server (via Internet). What traffic between the two clients are encrypted? Is it all trafic or just NETBIOS related trafic?

For example, if client 1 connects to a FTP-server on client 2, is that traffic encrypted?

Thanks in advanced

All information that is being pumped through the VPN channel is encrypted, i.e. if your FTP client goes through your Wingate server to the other side of the established VPN channel then anything the client sends/receives is encrypted.

I don't think the traffic i going through the server.

But if both clients have set the option "Tunnel Creation: Allow tunnels to/from all nodes", then the "ftp traffic" should be encrypted (even when the traffic isnt going through the server), is this right?

Absolutely if your client has a default gateway through the Wingate machine with established FTP tunnel.
