Help please - Connection to remote host timed out

At the office we have a win2003 server with cable - my router is a DrayTek (www.draytek.com) Vigor2300 (High Speed VPN Broadband Router)
When attempting to log in when the client was still part of the network (LAN) - everything worked just fine.

We then took the machine off the network and had it setup as a dial-up and then after from another location (my home) via cable. In each case we got.
"Connection to remote host timed out" .

Please help, it's real tight and time is not my best friend.
